RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond Ivy Soccer Club is pleased to announce that Elon University defensive midfielder and Richmond United alumna Alexis Pierce will join the team for its inaugural season pending league and federation approval.
“I was so grateful and excited when I received the opportunity to play for my hometown and for Richmond Ivy in its inaugural season,” Pierce said. “My excitement has done nothing but grow since committing to play.”
The freshman out of Glen Allen, Va. made two starts across three appearances for the Phoenix. Pierce helped Elon to a win and a draw to open the season in her very first year. Starting in both of those matches, Pierce’s play helped the squad maintain a clean sheet in their first two outings on the season.
“Alexis is a defender whose ability to play from the back will fit into our system and style of play,” Sporting Director Madeline McCracken said. “She will bring quality and depth to the position. She also possesses the traits which make her a great fit for us, both on and off the field. We believe she will be an important piece for the Richmond Ivy going forward!”
Attending Deep Run High School through 2023, Pierce was a four-year letter winner during her time there. She earned MVP recognition twice at Deep Run and, as a senior, earned First-team All-District, All-Region, All-Metro and All-State honors.
In 2022, Pierce helped Deep Run to a Regional Championship and the 2022 State Semifinals. Pierce was joined by fellow Ivy players Ava LeGault, Logan Marks and Bree Fulkerson and played an influential role in the school’s run that season.
“I’m excited to add Alexis to our Richmond Ivy roster for our inaugural season!” Head Coach Kimmy Cummings said. “Alexis adds to our backline depth and her individual player qualities will have her challenging for minutes on day one. She has the speed to cover ground defensively, is willing to get stuck in, and has the soccer IQ to begin our dangerous attacks. Alexis is an excellent culture fit and I believe will have an exciting impact on the team for our fans at City Stadium!”
During her time at Deep Run, Pierce also played for Richmond United (RU), helping her team to a third place showing in 2021 and a seventh place showing in 2022 at ECNL Nationals. Pierce earned ECNL All-Conference Selection during her time with RU as well.
