RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond Ivy Soccer Club is pleased to announce that University of Virginia (UVA) goalkeeper Camryn Miller will join the team for its inaugural season pending league and federation approval.
“I had been looking for a competitive team to play for this summer, and when I got the news that a high-level team right in my hometown wanted me, I couldn’t have been happier!” Miller said. “Seeing all the players who have committed to the team at this point has made me even more excited. There are some really great and competitive players who I am able to call teammates; it’s going to be quite the summer!”
A redshirt sophomore, Miller started playing for the Cavaliers in 2021. In the preceding high school season, she earned many different accolades while playing at Deep Run High School including 2021 Regional Player of the Year, First Team All-Region, Team MVP and was named to captain the squad throughout the season. In 2019, she received the Coach’s Award from then head coach Stephen Chapman and the rest of the coaching staff at Deep Run.
“We are so excited to have Camryn committed to our team and to welcome her onto our Richmond Ivy SC roster,” Sporting Director Madeline McCracken said. “She’s a talented goalkeeper who will make her teammates better each day, but will also be a vital character within our group. We look forward to her continued growth and dedication to the sport while with us in Richmond!”
During high school, Miller also competed in club play with Richmond United (RU) across five seasons. In 2020, she was invited to the National ECNL Showcase in Florida after having been invited to the 2019 National Showcase in South Carolina. Also, in the 2018-19 season, Miller served as a captain for the U18/19 ECNL Girls team. Before RU, Miller competed on Richmond Strikers Elite teams.
“Cam is an excellent addition to the Richmond Ivy roaster and I’m excited to have her join us!” Head Coach Kimmy Cummings said. “She embodies the personality and player profile we are looking for in a goalkeeper and will be a great addition to the backline. Her ability to support our build in key areas, as well as be commanding of her back line, will be instrumental in our overall team success. I’m excited for the passion I know Cam will bring to City Stadium!”
Miller’s Richmond soccer roots extend farther than just her own playing history. The Glen Allen native volunteered with Own The Goal — a goalkeeper training center in the Richmond area — as a coach throughout her high school career.
“We have a heck of a team ready to represent Richmond,” Miller said. “This summer, get ready for high-level soccer and top-notch entertainment right in the heart of our city. Your incredible support fuels us every step of the way, and we can’t wait to share this journey with you. Come out, bring the energy, and let’s make this a season to remember. Get ready for some fun!”
