The Glen Allen native, RU alum will return to the Mid-Atlantic to play for the summer in City Stadium
RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond Ivy Soccer Club is pleased to announce that goalkeeper Logan Marks will join the team for its inaugural season pending league and federation approval. The Glen Allen native and Richmond United alum just committed to play for Oklahoma State and has already enrolled to join their 2024 spring roster.
“When I received the offer to play for the inaugural Richmond Ivy team, I was so excited! Being able to reconnect and train with some amazing female athletes and coaches means so much to me,” Marks said. “To all the Richmond Ivy fans, I am just as excited as you all are and I cannot wait to start up training and games in a couple of months! I’m excited to be a part of the team’s competitive and fun culture which will help us be highly competitive in our upcoming games.”
Before her early enrollment, Marks played for Richmond United’s (RU) ECNL Girls U-19 team. She earned Mid-Atlantic All-Conference recognition in 2023. In September of the 2023 season, Marks earned Schell Brothers Player of the Week. She made twelve saves across two games and kept a clean sheet to start the U-19 team’s conference play with two wins.
“Logan represents Richmond soccer to her core; I first coached Logan in 2018 when she was a U13 with Richmond Strikers before she made the leap to play for Richmond United,” Ivy Head Coach Kimmy Cummings said. “Seeing her growth over the last six years has been incredible and a testament to her commitment to be the best she can but also the individual goalkeeping coaching she’s received. Her shot stopping ability, awareness of when to stay connected, and overall communication make her a valuable addition to our roster. Adding Logan’s mentality and character to our back line will absolutely help elevate the team for our fans in City Stadium.”
Marks has shined in the national youth conversation as well. In 2022, she earned ECNL national selection recognition for the 2006-07 roster, and in 2021, Marks was selected to the U-16 USWNT Camp held virtually by the federation.
“Logan is a great person, and on top of that, she is a great goalkeeper,” Ivy Sporting Director Madeline McCracken. “We are excited that she is with our club because she is a player who wants to get better and someone who can help push Richmond Ivy to success for years to come. She brings a hard work ethic and passion to our goalkeeper group. Her character and mentality will greatly benefit our team. We’re thrilled to bolster our backline with her commitment and we look forward to welcoming her and the rest of the team in May.”
Marks joins fellow Deep Run High School alumna Ava LeGault on the inaugural Richmond Ivy roster. Marks maintained control of the Wildcats’ season from in front of the net to help Deep Run claim the regional championship in 2023. In her sophomore year, the Wildcats were ranked first in their region with her in goal, earning a 7-1-1 region record — 14-4-2 overall.
